It might be the first time, and it took me forty years. I believed I found it, held it, only to let it slip right through my fingers.

Grasping at whatever there is to hold on to…

A recurring, terrifying dread of a thought: this is not the first time. I have been here before, but for some fucking reason, I cannot remember or even see it anymore.
